OVERVIEW
During this workshop, which will be held in two sessions over the course of two weeks, your team will develop a Theory of Change for a program currently being implemented in your city.
A Theory of Change helps your team clarify what your program aims to achieve and how it expects to achieve it. It connects what your program does with the changes you expect to see throughout the process, while also articulating the assumptions that must be met for those changes to occur.
Over the course of the two sessions, your team will work together to:
-
Define the change you want to achieve and who you expect to benefit.
-
Map out the path to that change, linking your program’s resources and activities to its immediate and longer-term outcomes.
-
Identify the key assumptions and risks that could affect the program’s ability to function as planned.
-
Integrate these elements into a draft Theory of Change that your team can review, refine, and use.
The Theory of Change you develop can serve as a practical tool to guide your strategy and priorities, decide what to measure and monitor, or identify questions and assumptions to explore through evaluation.
By the end, you’ll have: A complete Theory of Change for a project in your city, as well as reusable templates that you can apply to future projects.
