OVERVIEW
During this workshop, held in two sessions over the course of two weeks, your team will develop a Theory of Change for an ongoing program in your city.
A Theory of Change helps your team clarify what your program aims to achieve and how it hopes to get there. It connects what your program does to the changes you expect to see along the way, while also spelling out the assumptions that must hold true for those changes to occur.
Over the course of the two sessions, your team will work together to:
-
Define the change you want to achieve and who you expect to benefit from it.
-
Map out the path to that change, linking your program’s resources and activities to immediate and long-term outcomes.
-
Identify the key assumptions and risks that could affect whether the program will work as expected.
-
Bring these elements together into a draft Theory of Change that your team can review, refine, and use.
The Theory of Change you develop can serve as a practical tool to guide your strategy and priorities, help you decide what to measure and monitor, and identify questions and assumptions to be explored through evaluation.
By the end, you will have: A complete Theory of Change for a project in your city, as well as reusable templates that you can apply to future projects.
