Collaboratively developed by GovEx, Harvard DataSmart, the City and County of San Francisco, CA, and Data Community DC, this practical toolkit helps cities understand the implications of using algorithms, clearly articulate the potential risks, and identify ways to mitigate them.#PerformanceandAnalytics#PA4
Thanks for sharing and initiating, Jacob.
The City of San José's research and work with our advisory group come from digital privacy origins. Conclusions were about the same as in the DataSF paper. We then focused on guiding practices to start. Iterating on those will inform the formation of City AI/Algorithm Use principles with City Council, leading to adoption of a policy. We match policy with an operational structure to make the direction real in organizational practice-- all together, it's our model for responding to transformative technologies and laws.

The media who've called and highlighted the work shared that it's the most practice-oriented product they are seeing. I imagine other leading cities will build on their thought-leader work, soon. Next for San Jose are procurement and contracting standards for AI/Algorithm Use. We are starting working with a PhD.
MetroLab's efforts may be a good corollary to plug into. We are drafting guiding principles on the use and impacts of generative AI in NLC. And Center for Digital Government is diving into the topic area.
Say the word if you want to collaborate. Seeing that this post was from last year. ;)
